The Barrel Bros’ Review
The nose of this Angel’s Envy Single Barrel Private Selection is bold, candy-forward, and incredibly inviting. Cherry Jolly Rancher, banana nut muffin, and a touch of PayDay sweetness lead the way, layered with darker notes of custard, cedar, and even a hint of Snickers. There’s also a wave of strawberry and red Airheads-style candy that ties in nicely with the port influence.
The palate is silky, full, and rich—sweet cherry cola and grape candy dominate, supported by hints of chocolate and fruit roll-up. A light proof burn gives it balance without overwhelming. The port finish doesn’t take center stage as much as expected, but the bourbon delivers a sweet, dessert-like profile that feels both fun and complex.
The sweetness lingers long on the finish, evolving into subtle oak and a touch of dark leather. It’s a finish that keeps the pour grounded after the bright fruit and candy explosion up front.
Angel’s Envy Single Barrel Private Selection shows the brand at its best. While the port finish may be softer than some might hope, the higher proof brings out candy-like richness and layered depth. At its MSRP, it feels like a fair value; on sale, it’s an easy pickup. This bottle is worth seeking out if you want a pour that blends candy-shop fun with darker undertones.

The Rye Guy Says
Score: 8.5/10
Value: 4/5
THE NOSE:
Cherry Jolly Rancher, banana nut muffin, and Pay Day.
There is also a really dark rich custard and cedar wood profile.
I really love the nose on this.
THE TASTE:
The mouthfeel is full, silky, and buttery. It’s very sweet and tastes like a fruit roll up or grape jolly rancher.
Grape tootsie roll pop, so a bit of a chocolate flavor here.
The grape candy flavor really shines through after multiple sips, it’s lovely.
THE FINISH:
The sweet edge dies down a bit on the finish which is probably needed, and it does have a nice long draw to it.
A bit of a dark leather profile.

I haven't been a big fan of many angel’s envy products, but this one is a winner. The flavors are my preferred ones, and it's sweet, rich, and dark.
Every aspect of this pour was extremely enjoyable.
The Hunter Says
Score: 7.5/10
Value: 3.5/5
THE NOSE:
It’s like opening a pack of red Airheads. Sweet, chewy candy vibes all the way.
The port finish is there, but lighter than I hoped for.
There’s also a little grain note that caught me off guard, plus a wave of strawberry and even a hint of a Snickers bar.
THE TASTE:
The sip is pure cherry cola goodness—sweet, rich, and with just the right amount of proof burn to make it exciting.
It’s excellent bourbon, though again, the port finish takes a backseat.
THE FINISH:
The cherry cola sweetness hangs around beautifully before fading into some light, pleasant oak.

This pour really benefits from the higher proof. I wish the port stood out more, but even without it, this is a fantastic glass worth savoring.
