THE NOSE:
The Jack Daniel’s 14 Year Whiskey opens with dark banana and cream, giving it that signature Jack character, but richer.
There’s cinnamon, vanilla, salted caramel, and even a touch of marshmallow.
A soft red fruit note — maybe cherry — shows up after a few swirls, along with just the right amount of oak to round things out.
THE TASTE:
On the palate, it’s surprisingly simple. Honestly, the Jack Daniels 12-Year (Batch 1) feels more “high-end” in terms of complexity.
That said, the sweetness here is beautiful — mostly caramel and sugar, maybe leaning toward brown sugar.
There’s not a ton of variety to the sweetness, but what’s there is really nice.
THE FINISH:
The finish is long and pleasant, but not overly complex.
The oak shows up at a level I enjoy, never going bitter or overpowering.
It’s satisfying, but not something that will have you chasing every last flavor note.
BUY OR PASS?
This is a very, very good bottle. It’s not a pour that evolves or surprises you, but it’s consistently delicious from start to finish.
Still, if I’m ranking, I’d put Jack Daniels 12-Year Batch 1 above this one.
