THE NOSE:
This has that classic bourbon smell—but it’s super light.
I get hints of citrus and apple at first. But once you take a sip, the toasted finish really opens up the nose.
That’s when the caramel and marshmallow start to show, and it adds a warm, inviting note.
There’s a nice amount of oak too—not overwhelming, just enough to make me feel like I’m back at the Fort Nelson bar.
THE TASTE:
This one drinks easy. The mouthfeel is pretty light, likely due to the lower proof, but the toasted flavor really shines.
Compared to regular Michter’s bourbon, this one adds a layer of sugary sweetness that sets it apart.
The marshmallow note is my favorite, and the more you sip, the more it shows up. It’s not overly complex, but it’s super enjoyable.
THE FINISH:
The finish is simple and sweet.
That lower proof holds it back a bit—there’s not a ton going on, and I wish the toasted notes stuck around longer.
Still, what’s there is pleasant.
BUY OR PASS?
Flavor-wise, this is a winner. But at $130 MSRP (and way more on secondary), it’s just not worth the price tag.
It’d be a fantastic $75 bottle—but at its current pricing, it loses a lot of its shine.
