The Barrel Bros’ Review
The nose of the Weller Antique 107 opens with a rich and inviting sweetness—honey, vanilla, and caramel lead the way, backed by toasted marshmallow creme and honey graham cracker. There’s a playful mix of fruit notes here too: orange zest, cherry, strawberry, and even a hint of red apple. A candy-like quality lingers throughout, reminiscent of pixy stix or strawberry-and-creme Lifesavers, balanced by just a touch of oak.
The mouthfeel on the palate is warm and buttery, delivering bold layers of toasted marshmallow, caramel, and honey graham. The wheated profile shines alongside subtle red fruit and a dash of char, with oak providing just enough structure to keep the sweetness in check. At 107 proof, it’s both flavorful and approachable, with a depth that rewards slow sipping.
Sweetness carries through to the finish, joined by a mellow oak presence and a lingering graham cracker note. It’s long, satisfying, and keeps drawing you back in for another sip.
Weller Antique 107 is one of the most dynamic and bold offerings in the Weller lineup. While the MSRP makes it a fantastic value, its secondary sale price often climbs well beyond that—something to keep in mind. Still, this review confirms that if you can find it close to MSRP, it’s worth grabbing. A well-balanced, nuanced wheated bourbon that truly earns its reputation.

Individual Reviews
The Rye Guy Says
Score: 8/10
Value: 4.5/5
THE NOSE:
I get a few different notes from the nose. The first is a strawberry and creme lifesavers. The hard candy that comes individually wrapped.
Additionally, with that creme flavor I get a bit of marshmallow creme and honey graham cracker.
Overall it comes across light and sweet, with a bit of that wheated profile showing up. Occasionally the red fruit note leans more cherry than strawberry.
THE TASTE:
The mouthfeel is like melted butter, very pleasant on the palate. The wheated profile seems to take over a bit more than the fruity profile, dipping into honey graham territory.
I do pick up on a char profile that accompanies a red apple flavor.
I wouldn’t say the palate is overly woody, but there is an appropriate amount of oak in the mix.
THE FINISH:
The finish is appropriately a continuation of the palate.
Honey with a bit of oak is what I’m left with mostly, but It’s not quite as sweet as I feel like it could be.
BUY OR PASS?
This is easily the most dynamic and bold pour from the Weller line that I’ve had. It gives off a much more nuanced vibe and the 107 proof point really seems to add a lot to the experience.
I don’t think the taste or the finish really nail my preferred flavors but it’s hard to deny that it is a well made whiskey.
The Hunter Says
Score: 8.5/10
Value: 4.5/5
THE NOSE:
Right from the start, the nose is full of honey, vanilla, and caramel.
Even though it’s a wheated bourbon, I don’t get a ton of “wheated” notes up front. Instead, I’m picking up citrus—like orange—and even a touch of cherry.
There’s also that general candy sweetness I love, kind of like pixy stixs or nougat. Maybe even a little graham cracker in there too.
THE TASTE:
This pour hits all the right notes. Toasted marshmallow and caramel show up strong, with just a little bit of fruit in the background.
But really, it’s all about that warm sweetness. Marshmallow and caramel?
Hard to go wrong with that. It’s smooth and super enjoyable.
THE FINISH:
Everything from the palate just keeps going.
The sweetness sticks around in the best way, and the graham cracker note finally shines.
It’s got a long, lingering finish that makes you want to go right back in for another sip.
BUY OR PASS?
This is one of those rare bottles that actually lives up to the hype. It’s sweet, flavorful, and finishes beautifully.
If you see it close to MSRP, don’t think—just grab it. And at 107 proof, it’s perfect for more than one pour on a relaxing evening.
